Iffy by Melissa

Button-up: Madewell (similar) | T-shirt: Shade Clothing | Skirt: Madewell (similar) | Shoes: J.Crew (very similar!)
To be honest, I am not quite sure what I was thinking here. Was it “How many patterns can I fit in ONE outfit?” or “I am going to pick blindly from the closet and just put it on.” Maybe it was “I am going to be wearing camo for the next month – get in all other patterns while you still can.” Whatever it was, I still thought it was pretty fantastic till about half way through the day. Then it was more like, “What am I wearing?!?” Anyone else feel iffy about their outfit choices as the day ends?

The One by Rebecca

thrifted Gap shirt (similar); AG Stevie jeans (similar); Miz Mooz Katie boots; gifted scarf (similar)
My life is really just made up of an endless exploration for my next pair of shoes. And for the last two years, I have been on the hunt for the perfect boot. I promise you I have tried them all. There was even a time when I was almost desperate enough to buy myself a ridiculously expensive pair of Fryes, but those didn’t even make the cut. Well, now that I have found the perfect boot, I’m not really sure what to do with myself. I’ll be staring at the computer screen with my favorite shoe site pulled up and then realize I have nothing to look for. I have everything I need. I’ve met the one, and my search is done. Maybe I should start crocheting more now that I have all this free time..

Classic Chambray and Black

leopard print scarf via ebay, $8; thrifted Gap chambray shirt, $3; Forever 21 pleated skirt; Fitzwell flats, $76

Was inspired by another pin for this outfit. Loved the casual effortlessness of the chambray with the black pleats.

Also, I was experimenting with how to tie my scarf in the first pic. Not sure if I like it yet… Anyone know what that knot is called? Just saw it floating around Pinterest and thought I’d give it a go!

Date Night by Melissa

No spark during the date? Wear a little sparkle in your belt!

Ann Taylor top; Abercrombie & Fitch jeans (similar); J.Crew shoes and belt

This is my current date night outfit. Lately, I’m loving classy, formal-looking tops dressed down with a pair of fitted jeans. It’s a great combo for a date that you don’t know how to dress for (which still happens with me and my husband). The collar is meant to be folded down, but I prefer it up.

Cute flats are a great idea to keep the outfit fun and feminine while still being able to take those long romantic walks or awkward strolls to and from restaurants……. Speaking of flats, loafers are amazing! Patterned loafers are even better. Thanks, mommy! With all one color, a pattern can really pop anywhere you have it.

Whether it’s the best night of your life or a total bust, having a versatile date night outfit makes you ready for almost everything! 😉

thrifted blazer, $3 (similar); thrifted white t-shirt, $5 (similar); Target sweatpants, $18; Target sandals, $8 (similar)
This post is brought to you by thrifting and Target. I got these sweatpants a couple weeks ago and they’re all I’ve been wearing at home (with a t-shirt, gross! {..or is it?}). Can you tell I’ve been in a be-as-lazy-as-possible-but-still-look-put-together-with-the-least-amount-of-effort mood lately? Ahem. In fact, I’m so lazy that I wore this to work. I’m 97.4% sure that I wore this all weekend too. But that’s the beauty of it all… Add high-heels and a blazer and you can’t even tell they’re sweatpants!! (Work with me here..)
Also, how to dress up cropped sweatpants to wear them to work (at least, my work).

Two days in a row

Um, I totally wore this shirt two days in a row to work. I hope nobody noticed how gross I am… (Someone please tell me they’ve worn a shirt twice in a row… I can’t be the only gross one out in the blogosphere. Or maybe I can…… This is getting awkward.) But I had to to recreate this GCOGH ensemble. I love the yellow, blue, and white together and can’t believe I never thought of it before!! I thought I was smarter than this!

I’m wearing a thrifted navy blazer ($3), J.Crew Factory white shirt (gift), thrifted Forever 21 yellow jeans($6) I skinnied, and JCPenney heels (free) with a vintage Gucci bucket bag ($3).

And I can’t let you go about your day without your giveaway reminder… Peach ruffle cardi. Here. Go!

The Bag That Will Travel

Le Mode sent me this bag as another fashion blogger chain project! It is the Traveling Paths Bag. Next I am handing it off to Mara! So check out her blog in a few days. I guess you can now if you want to..

I really liked this bag. I’m kind of sad that I have to send it off! It reminds me of my tan bag from Korea I’ve been using for my gym things but it’s prettier. I love the weaving details on the front! I also love that it’s big. It would be perfect for weekends away, flights, and it can even be used as a diaper bag if you’re a cool mom. If you’re not, then it’s probably not for you.

If this thing came with straps, it would’ve been a winner. Update:  It does! Le Mode just forgot to put it in with the bag when they sent it to me! Also, the handles are flat and not rounded so when you pick it up, it bends. I like to hook my bags on my arms (see above) so it dug into my skin. I have weak arm veins so it hurt. (I sold plasma for a year.)

Also, a special shout-out to Liana of Fashion Bag 411 and Beauty Bag 411! She very generously sent me a bunch of clothes! This blazer was my favorite. I haven’t worn it until now because I’ve been meaning to pair it with this Love Stitch blouse but I kept pairing it with other stuff and I didn’t want to overwear it but I think it’s too late now. Thank you so much, Liana!!!! Fun fact:  Chase and Liana (and her twin sister) grew up in the same town!!!

I’m wearing a Forever 21 blazer (from Liana), Love Stitch blouse ($4), Anthropologie necklace(free with gift cards), DownEast Basics shirt (gift from my mother-in-law – buy it!), J Brand jeans($158 – buy it!), and JCPenney heels (free with gift cards) with the Traveling Paths Handbag (c/o Le Mode Accessories).

Pantsy Pantsy

Friends, meet pants. Pants, meet friends. We’re all going to get along just fine…as soon as I find a skinny brown belt. Until then we’ll just have to make do. By we I just mean me…unless someone has an extra belt for me to borrow and never return.

I really liked this outfit today. You can tell because I wore the same shirt two days in a row. This outfit doesn’t reflect my usual style and I kind of like that. I say “kind of” because I’m not sure if this was accidental or if I really am that amazing. No… I’m pretty amazing.

This outfit is like whatever

Mmm, didn’t really like this outfit. It may have to do with the fact that I had to untie my scarf-belt every time I went to the bathroom which is like every hour so it got pretty annoying fast. I’ve got to the point of just letting it hang loose. The scarf, sickos.

As you guys know, I don’t like graphic t-shirts. If you didn’t, you do now. I currently have two graphic t-shirts that I’ve worn on the blog that you can see here and here. But I still don’t wear them very often. So I was really surprised when I grabbed this shirt this morning. It’s white so it’s basically a basic….basically. Plus, it has my favorite verb. If you can guess which one it is, you’re probably reading my blog too much….and that’s awesome.
