Mustard, Black, and White by Kristine

First of all, a Happy Mother’s Day to all the mamas out there!!! Have you called your mom yet? :)Mustard is quite possibly my favorite color right now. Something about it – and I’m not sure what it is – goes with neutrals so, so well.  I love how this cardigan looked on top of my black and white polka dotted top. I’m always very conscious of what colors I choose to pair with black and white.

And another thing – I kept this in my closet back home while I was adventuring in Japan. When I came back, it was like I had discovered a new treasure! Lesson learned: Time away really does make the heart grow fonder, even with clothes. Who knew?

A Most Favorite Color Scheme by Kristine

I love color. Every now and then, I try to do the chic dark-neutrals look…and I like how easy it is to look put together in those colors…but it just feels wrong to me. I need color in my outfit to make me feel bright and happy!
This outfit has one of my favorite color schemes in it:  purple and red. Occasionally, I go crazy with colorblocking, but I decided to separate the two colors with jeans for a more subdued look. These red heels have been with me for the past few years or so; somehow they add a fun pop of color to almost every outfit. I think every girl should have a pair of red or red-orange shoes to spice up any blah outfit! The head scarf was added for a bit of an unexpected color. I always think it’s interesting to add an element that doesn’t quite match… (But then again, sometimes I remind myself of that crazy art teacher we all probably had in elementary school…)

Mustard, Hot Pink, Turquoise by Kristine

Scarf: Forever 21
Belt: J.Crew Factory
Blouse: Forever 21
Dress: Betsey Johnson
Shoes: Steve Madden via Last Chance (similar)

This outfit was worn a few months ago when my hair was long enough to wear the blogger bun and when it was warm enough for bare legs. But I figured since Elaine is rocking so many warm weather looks, you guys wouldn’t mind if I shared one, right?
Anyway, this outfit features one of my absolute favorite color schemes lately – mustard, hot pink, and turquoise. (Don’t spot the turquoise? Check out my nails!) I love how bright and happy it all is. Also, I really like this silhouette that I tried out – a bit baggy on top, and form-fitting on the bottom. And last thing: can I just say how every girl should own a pair of nude pumps? They can go with anything, seriously.
